Haven't posted in awhile!!! Planning a wedding and been busy, but now that I have remembered my password I'll go ponder a new blog to post about.

Couch Potato

So this week I've been noticing Kahlua getting on the couch much more often than normal. Yesterday I went on a long walk with a friend and when we walked back into the house Kahlua was comfortably laying on the couch. Last night while I was getting ready for bed I walked through the kitchen and looked into the living room to see where she was.. and there she was again.. on the couch. Actually, while I'm writing this RIGHT now.. I'm sitting on the floor typing and take a guess where she is.. You got it! ON THE COUCH! lol. I am not sure if it's because it's so fluffy or what, but she's NEVER been this interested in the couch. I think she thinks it's her bed! I've never had a bed for her becuase she usually won't lay on things. She seems to really like anything as close to the ground or tile as she can get. Looks amazingly comfortable here!

BUTTERFLY FLOWERS!

What a summer! I've been so busy I haven't even had time to do much updating on here! I have some fun pics to share though!! Last weekend I bought some summer flowers to put around the house. I got hydrangea's to put in the front of the house and some other plants that are suposed to attract butterflies. Amanda came over to help me plant the flowers and helped take fun pictures!!! We had to dig this crappy ground cover up to put the hydrangea's. They had prickly thorns on them and it was NOT fun!

Next I planted these 'butterfly attracting flowers'. I don't remember what they are called because I put the card in the ground with them. At Lowes (where I got them) there were TONS of butterflies all over them! I've noticed them all over the neighborhood now that I have them!

I also bought two 'Nanho Purple Butterfly Bushes'. These things are AWESOME! There were at least 5 butterflies sitting on them WHILE I was moving them around the house trying to figure out where to put them. My favorite was this yellow butterfly you see below. I cannot WAIT for next summer to see the butterfly bushes in full force!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

Kahlua helped of course! She layed on the front porch and then tested the water to make sure it was good enough for the flowers!

ENGAGED

So this is a few weeks late, but things have been NUTS around here!! Kahlua's doing fabulous and is up walking around, climbing on furnature, and back to ripping things up around the house again.. It's good to have her back.. lol I thought she had just outgrown some of her puppy destructive behaviors.. but no. we realized it was just that she didn't FEEL like ripping up the magazine laying on the floor.. that is of course until now.. But anyway.. BIG NEWS!! I'm ENGAGED!!! WOOHOOOO Kevin proposed on his birthday July 29 and we're planning on a wedding September 2011. Sunflowers are the flower and possibly theme of the wedding. No idea what colors we'll have, but I'm sure I'll find something in all the magazines I've gotten so far. My sister is super excited about planning the shower and bridal party and I have a feeling Amanda had my party planned years ago and is just now getting to pull out all her plans. As for the proposal, I had no clue he was going to do it even though I should have had every reason to think he would that day. Since it was Kevin's birthday that day we had plans to go downtown to eat at St. Elmo's Steakhouse and then see a comedy show at Crackers comedy club. He was suposed to pick me up at 5pm at my job. At 5pm he called and said he was running late and would be there at 5:30. I'm thinking ... "we're not going to make our 6pm reservation".. So 5:30 comes and he calls and says "Cookie (my nickname hense the blog name) ... Cookie I locked my keys in my car.. " Now I have his spare key to his car in my purse so I asked where he was and he said "At the Keystone mall.. at Reis Nichol's".. Now for anyone who doens't live in Indy.. Reis Nichol is THE BEST jewelry store in town.. AND my friend works there and told me to tell him to come in to pick out a ring for me.. SOOO I'm thinking .. hmmm why would he be there on his birthday. I excidedly drive over to Reis and find Kevin in the parking lot looking defeated.. Give him his spare, park my car and switch to his..
On the drive downtown to St. Elmo's I ask.. "SO, what were you doing at Reis Nichol's Kevin?" and he says. "oh come on angie, i know your mom told you.. she can't keep a secret".. My mom?? What does my mom have anything to do with this I say and the cat was out of the bag.. however.. I thought he had just bought the ring and would be getting it some time in the next week or two.. silly me. So we go to dinner, comedy show and then back to pick up my car. On my drive home I text some friends "not gonna happen tonight.
When we get home I went inside first... and there were the little battery candles set up ALL OVER the downstairs and up the stairway surrounded by rose petals EVERYWHERE!!! THIS is when he proposed!!! GOt down on one knee and everything!!
Aparently he had put the ring under the spare tire in his car and set the keys down while he did that and shut the trunk.. he didn't mean to do it at all.. so unfourtunately for him, i found out he bought the ring, but had no clue that he HAD the ring!!!! He had called my parents beforehand and that's why he thought I already knew!!!! lol

Swimming at the lake

Over the Fourth of July we went to my parents lakehouse and Kahlua got some GREAT physical therapy exercise SWIMMING! Newfoundlands are water dogs and MADE for the water. They even have webbed feet!!! I was really hoping she'd get to go swimming this summer so I'm glad she was ok when we went. A few days before Kevin took her to the Orthopedic surgeon and he said her leg/knee was looking awesome! Here she is swimming around looking like she's in heaven!

I think we're just going to have to get her one of these for the backyard! :)

The Lake!!!

For the fourth of July weekend we went up north to my parents house on the lake! We weren't sure how things would go for Kahlua becuase she had just had her 8 week follow up and still had some limitations. We were told it'd be another 4 weeks before she had no limitations at all. We were given the ok to start taking 'mini' walks so we figured she could get in the lake to swim a little bit! My sister has all the pictures of her in the water so I have to wait a week to get those and then I'll post them!! Here are other pics while at home.

8 week TPLO follow up x rays

WE MADE IT!!! This morning Kahlua had her 8 week follow up x-rays. Kevin took her because I had to work so I wasn't there for the excitement, but he called me as soon as they were done to tell me how things went. The orthopedic surgeon said the bone had completely fused and he could not even find a fuse line meaning the bone reeeeeally healed up well!! We can now start taking her on small mini walks and build up as she's able to. I was interested in learning about stairs and aparently after another 4 weeks he felt she could basically do just about anything. As for the left leg it's still not the greatest, but it isn't really setting her back much so he said "if it ain't broke don't fix it"!! SOOOO I guess we just take each day one at a time and slowly build her muscles back up to walking longer and see what happens!!!! We were told to continue to watch her weight (we still have some to take off) and also to keep her on her glucosamine supplaments FOREVER. All in all it's a great day!!!

I made some peanut butter bones last night to bring to co-workers and of course Kahlua did some taste testing to make sure they were ok.

And if you didn't think that news was good enough I put my 2 weeks in at work this week!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I got a job at a hospital in the area where I will be working at their Women's Boutique and their Women's breast cancer center. SUCH an exciting week!!!! Pictures will follow soon!
